CEMO acts against the discriminatory and illegal decision of the Maros County Inspectorate

Tîrgu Mureș-Marosvásárhely, 11 October, 2016℘

On 19 th of September 2016, the board of directors of Maros County’s Inspectorate adopted a decision that in mixed kindergartens and schools in Maros county and Marosvásárhely, only the vice-principal should be Hungarian speaker though these positions are occupied through a thorough examination where everyone could apply without restriction. Thanks to a common anti-discrimination procedure of the CEMO and the Hungarian Teacher’s Association of Romania, on 28 th September 2016, the National Anti-Discrimination Council decided that the Maros County Inspectorate discriminates against Hungarians who want to apply to headmaster positions and asked the institution to withdraw its decision.
