CEMO has developed its Training and Education Program with the aim to support the young people and adults to develop into an active player in the democratic life and learn to exercise their rights and responsibilities in society. We are planning to achieve our goal by building the capacity of the citizens through formal and informal education to build up the confidence, the skills and knowledge needed to engage. CEMO’s objective is to encourage the active citizenship focusing on the education of the youth and lifelong learning. We are fully convinced that only those members of a community, who become aware of their rights, understand that we all need to be given equal opportunities and treated fairly. This is possible only if people are ready to be actively involved and are ready to participate in the matters of the democracy.
We firmly believe that democracy works only if the citizens are able to act as responsible members of the society and are ready to advocate for change and build a firm democracy.
We are planning to design and carry out a series of trainings and workshops as well as civic education projects focusing on active citizenship combined with advocacy and awareness raise campaigns that would make people understand the rationale of changing attitude and the importance of these vital transformations that needs to take place in the Romanian society. Our Training and Education programs include: Human Rights Education, Advocacy Trainings, and Anti-Bias Trainings.
Human Rights Education
Human rights cannot exist in a society where the citizens are not properly informed about their rights, and they cannot speak-up for their protection. Human Rights Education can only be accomplished through an informed and continued demand by people for their protection. Human rights education promotes principles, thinking and attitudes that support all individuals to sustain their own rights and those of others. It develops an understanding of everyone’s common responsibility to make human rights a living truth in each community.
Human rights education comprises an essential contribution to the long-term prevention of human rights abuses and represents an important investment in the attempt to achieve a just society in which all human rights of all persons are valued and respected.
